    After their power pop masterpiece Shake Some Action (), the Groovies did actually release two equally great albums, Now () and Jumpin' in the Night () both in the same winning style as Action: Brit invasion, early rock'n'roll and Byrds jangle, done with enough attitude to compete with current punk scene. These two albums have been put down because of their reliance on covers.

    Nov 12,  · I used to go to the Paradise all the time and was into the Groovies. I passed up seeing them and have been regretting it ever since. I thought the show was in '78 when they were touring the 'Now' lp but I may be wrong. Great great band! Shake Some Action is in my Top 20 alltime best lp list.

    While the Jordan/Wilson songwriting duo proved to be a winning combination on this album, as usual the Groovies feature a healthy dose of covers. Too often their albums have been marred by pointless covers that add nothing to the original versions (see Jumpin' in the Night) but on this one it's a different kekandustlisormavoburlitodeerow.coinfos:

    The third and last of the Flamin' Groovies late-'70s albums for Sire, Jumpin' in the Night storms out of the gate with the title song, a top-shelf rocker that brings the muscle of the Flamingo-era lineup of the Groovies to the more style-conscious British Invasion sonics of Cyril Jordan's version. Though Jumpin' in the Night never rocks that hard or that well again, it does sound decidedly 7/
